Agenda #16- November 20, 2008

Meeting Objective Update on OPAS & related activity
3:30 - 3:35 A. SAME number: 1.888.285.4585 id 353291
3:35 - 3:45 B. ETIC & OPAS Activity
  • ETIC Proposal update (November 11 & October 28)
  • Motivate
    • OST Data Project: Brett McFarlane is pretty committed to doing this, agrees in principle to use at least a core of the survey identical to PSU's core survey, and is interested in doing some focus groups (probably no more often than every other year). Jo will talk to OIT next, and has a few names there.
    • Ben and Eda have been conferring about the Engineering Coach Champion proposal; Dick Knight also wrote an email of support to Lemelson.
  • Prepare is currently digging back in to the CS question; Walt & Jo have connected with some students at Lake Oswego High School trying, as part of their Political Action Seminar, to reinstate CS/technology at LOHS ... may be an interesting case study.
  • Jo left a phone message with Craig Brown of Best Buy last week and has not heard back; as near as I can tell, none of the e-intros or information passed on has had any followup from Best Buy. Not sure I'm going to give up yet, but it will be with a little less hope. The next packet of info I am working on for him is connecting to hiring sources at CCs and OUS campuses.
3:45 - 4:30

C. Follow up on the Community Conversation Workshop

  • Draft of the Retrospective -- blessed by Jo, Eda, Chris, and Don Kirkwood -- haven't heard from Domes but haven't remembered to remind him this week - doc - pdf - when I have the final blessing, I will delete the raw notes from the end of the document.
  • Minigrants status (Natasha)
  • Evaluation status -- wait for the Retrospective to be posted?
4:30 - 4:45

D. Review of the PLTW Brochure

  • Jo sent copies to Mary Bunn, Gayle Yamasaki, Jill Tucker, Eda; oversight -- she did not send any to Anna
  • Comments from Jo, Mary Bunn
4:45 - 4:50

E. Other items?

4:50 - 5:00 Next Meeting -- Thursday, December 18 (due to Christmas)
